Artist: AFI
Title: Synesthesia
Album: Unreleased (Sing the Sorrow Secret Site)
Tabbed by: Luke
Email: strikethetrip@hotmail.com

This is my first Tab. This is a very detailed, simple and straightforward tab.
I figured since this song was pretty easy, then a lot of beginners would be
looking at this. I set it up so that the musician can pretty much read along
with the song straight through. There are sections such as the INTRO, VERSEs,
CHORUSes, etc. which are followed by the time interval in which the section
takes place AS WELL AS the first and last lyrics of the section to eliminate
ANY confusion. Also, I've lined up other lyrics (as close as I can) with the
notes as they are in the song in case you have trouble singing and playing at
the same time. Like I said, these tabs are dumbed down pretty well. Maybe if
you were smarter I wouldn't have to do this.

Here's the notation I'll be using:

      h - hammer on
      p - pull off
      b - bend string up
      r - release bend
      / - slide up
       - slide down
      ~ - vibrato
      t - right hand tap
x - play 'note' with heavy damping
      * - let ring

**NOTE**
Before you begin playing "Synesthesia" you have to retune your guitar. Like
most of AFI's songs are tuned a half step down (that's one fret tuned down in
'I suck at guitar terms' terms). Mmmkay, here's the song:

INTRO & CHORUS 1 (0:01 - 0:17) "Heartbreak, incarnate... ...Enjoyin' your pain"

VERSE 1 (0:17 - 0:31) "Someday I will be... ...Where all remaining failed"

The fourth chord in the progression is played a half beat early
and so it will be shown in the tabs. Also, since almost everything will be
ringing out in this section, I'm not going to take the time to add the (*)
after every note. Finally, the notes aren't played as rigidly as they are
tabbed, they're finessed a little more. However this is for beginners and
will be tabbed out accordingly. What're you gonna do, fight me?

(Also it's okay if you accidentally hit the open D string - still sounds good)

CHORUS 2 - PART 1 (0:31 - 0:46) "Please let me... ...stained and wrinkled"

The words in this section are typed as closely to the rythm of the song as I
can get them, it just so happened to be that they were one space apart. Use
the same rythm as from the intro if you are confused. The slide is also a
bit different in the fact that has set notes you will play on the beat. In
the fourth measures I know the fifth fret on the D and A strings is the same
as an open G and D, but by playing them at the same time you can get that nice
disonant effect which is presest here.

CHORUS 2 - PART 2 (0:46 - 1:01) "Just say... ...that long forgotten song"

Stick to the rythm that's been used throughout the song. Since these notes
aren't palm muted, it won't matter as much. Besides, if you haven't got it
by now, you need more practice... Snap.

CHORUS 3 (1:01 - 1:13) "Heartbreak, incarnate... ... Enjoyin your pain"

Same as the INTRO & CHORUS 1. The only difference is there's another guitar
part played along with the first four measures. The vibrato is VERY slight,
just enough so that it creates a little bit of disonance. You could also strum
the strings harder to create the same effect.

  "Heart break Incar -- nate..."

Same as VERSE 1 except for the lyrics, which I'll post.... NOW!:

"Someday I will be, I'll be that waking warmth from a fading dream
Because I will, I may at best, be as low as you feel."

CHORUS 4 - PART 1 (1:13 - 1:41) " "Please let me... ...stained and wrinkled"

Same as CHORUS 2 - PART 1.

CHORUS 4 - PART 2 (1:41 - 2:07)

Same as CHORUS 2 - PART 2 except for two things: You play the pattern 2x now
and on the second time there's this additional guitar part which starts at 1:55

OUTRO - PART 2 (2:24 - 3:32) "Let me be all the words... that you'd unsay."

The rythm here consists of a few pick up notes and offbeats so pay attention to
that, but since it is played consistently like that through the rest of the
song it should be easy to pick up on. If you're having trouble, just know it
it starts at the end of the 2 measure (pick up to the third) and ends at the
end of the third measure (pick up to fourth) in each stanza. I'll designate
the area with brackets at the the top and use it for the remaining measures.
Also the The part in parentheses is an additional guitar part that's not worth
writing out a whole other section.
