Prima editie a festivalului a avut loc in 2003.
Capetele de afis ale editiei Download Fest din 2008 au fost Kiss, The Offspring, Lostprophets, Simple Plan, HIM, Cavalera Conspiracy, Testament, The Dillinger Escape Plan si Jonathan Davis and the SFA.
In 2009, festivalul va avea loc intre 12 si 14 iunie.
