GWAR este o trupa de thrash
metal formata in 1985. Formatia este cunoscuta pentru costumele inspirate din filmele SF si Horror.
Versurile trateaza probleme politice, tabuuri, precum si povesti comice. Costmele sunt fabricate din
cauciuc, fibra si latex.
Un alt trademark al trupei este cricticarea celelbritatilor. Printre victimele formatiei, se numara O.J. Simpson, George W. Bush, Jerry Garcia, Osama BIn Laden, Adolf Hitler si Paris Hilton. Initial, stilul muzical GWAR, se indrepta spre punk rock. Americanii cantau piese scurte si simple, ulterior, indreptandu-se spre hardcore si crossover thrash.
Pe 7 aprilie, 2007, GWAR au lansat mult asteptatul videoclip al piesei Eighth Lock, extras de pe albumul Beyond Hell. A urmat turneul Sounds of the Underground, alaturi de Shadows Fall, Chimaira, Job for a Cowboy, Amon Amarth, Goatwhore si Suicidal Tendencies.
