Primordial este o trupa de black metal, formata in 1991 in Irlanda de catre Pol MacAmlaigh si Ciaran MacUiliam. Vocalistul Nemtheanga s-a alaturat trupei in acelasi an. Trupa a incorporat elemente specifice Celtic Frost si Bathory pe care le-au inclus aproape in fiecale album scos pe piata. Dupa discul de debut, Imrama , Primordial au fost caracterizati drept melodic black metal, insa gradual au ajuns la un amalgam de black, celtic si folk metal.
