Ei bine, am vrut in primul rand sa calatorim si sa cantam in tara voastra pentru a vedea reactia romanilor.

Thornafire: Ei bine, trio-ul are destule motive tehnice pentru a exista.

Consider asta o atitudine penibila.

English version:

Metalhead: Greetings from Romania, again, and thank you for answering my questions! It''s been a month since your show at OST Fest and I want to know how did you guys live this Romanian experience, the festival as a whole?

Thornafire: Hi again, Lazar! Well, first of all we wanted to travel and play on your country to see the reaction of the people. Also, Southern American people like to see and try to know different countries. At the end, everything was perfect and the organizers of the OST Fest were amazing people. Be sure that we want to come back to your country.

Metalhead: Unfortunately your show was scheduled pretty late and the public dispersed, so you had to perform in front of a small and tired audience. A privilege for us, the ones who stood up there for your performance, if i''m allowed, because you really put up a great show. How do you feel about a not-so-great audience?

Thornafire: We are an underground band, so the music that we release is, firstly, for our personal satisfaction, and then if others can enjoy it, that would be perfect. Of course that the main stage looks great at 7.00pm with so many people in front of it. But we play death metal, so many of the Motley Crue fans would be very dissapointed about the dark feeling transmited through our music.

Metalhead: Although you already introduced yourselves to us at the festival, i think the ones who ignored you should be aware of their loss. How did everything begin with Thornafire and which is your evolution in almost 15 years from the beginning?

Thornafire: In 1998 i was playing with Cerberus, a death metal local band. Like a fan of this music, I always enjoy the idea of making things, and represent my style of death metal. I started this with a basic idea that never changed for me, and I never used mainstream influences on my music. So now, having this third album, "Eclipse Nox Coagula", we’re very happy to resolve all the problems you have when you try to keep a band alive, like bad and routinarie jobs that could suck all the will you have for playing a fresh music. A rule in the life of Chileans says that at your 30''s you have to be watching football and fixing your car. I want to keep progressing into the music and then to show it here in Europe, cause by nowadays is the best continent for playing this kind of music.

Metalhead: I heard people saying, while you were putting up a great show on the stage, that there''s no need for having more than three people in a band and you just confirmed it. Isn''t it hard to start as a 5-piece band and end up as a trio?

Thornafire: Well, the trio has a lot of good technical reasons to exist. First of all, it’s better to talk and take decisions with three people, instead of five. It’s more easy for three employees to take a free time from their jobs and start travelling. Also, maybe there are less leaders in a band, so for the history of this band its the best option.

Metalhead: Listening to your latest album, "Eclipse Nox Coagula", made me realise that you carry some of the Southern American bands brutality signature, a worldwide renowned mark. What influenced you in putting up this album?

Thornafire: Some influences are from the first album of Sepultura, of course, but in a different direction… We also have other influences, but the hole package is a dark and fresh Death Metal.

Metalhead: You''re actually touring Europe in support of this album, but i must say that a find a huge gap between shows. I mean, Romanian bands can barely afford 3-4 national shows in support of every new material, and you guys spend more than a week between shows. Is there any financing help you get from your government or some other financing to afford all this touring?

Thornafire: The base of our tour is the money that all of us have saved, in my case for a motorcycle (laughs). We usually keep touring day after day, but this is more of a festival appearances tour, and we like to take our time to watch the cities we visit. Its more relaxing and amazing to play during the weekends and then just watch tv in the rest of the week.

Metalhead: What about your future plans? Is there any thought of a fourth album to be recorded soon?

Thornafire: It depends directly from this tour but of course that i personally want to make an evolution in my music, because we are underground and we don’t depend on other’s decisions. Also, I’m really into this music genre and i want to keep progressing with this band.

Metalhead: The biggest name Chile offered is Pentagram, but the Chilean Metal scene proved to be much more than that in a great book, called "Metal Chileno", reviewing the Chilean metal scene through a great decade, 1983-1993. Which is the condition of the Chilean metal scene in 2012? Are there any new bands that worth being mentioned?

Thornafire: Man, the Chilean metal scene is huge... Lots of good bands and good magazines that promote this stuff, but the production is internal in most of the cases. We also have this weird attitude when someone travels for a tour outside Chile: its like they have the most expensive cellphone in the office, like a luxury spoil you want to show to others. I consider this a pussy attitude. It’s been a while since I cared about it, and now I can even give some help to other bands that want to do something in the music.

Metalhead: Here at OST Fest you also had the possibility of seeing some local bands, in day one. Armies of Enlil, Psychogod, White Walls, Warchant and our neighbours from the Republic of Moldova, Infected Rain, the last two on the same stage you played. Had any of them captured your attention?

Thornafire: I found Infected Rain and Code Red very interesting and I also listened to White Walls previously, whom I found at OST Fest playing very clear and nice.

Metalhead: Thanks for the interview and i really hope to see you again, sometimes, because i know it''s worthed. Could you please have a word for your Romanian fans and for the ones who got to see your show at OST Fest?

Thornafire: Thanks to you Lazar, and thanks to the Romanian people, because they took the time to celebrate my birthday at OST Fest. That means I cannot send the typical blasphemic black magic greetings, so instead of these I send a big hug to the people who saw us at OST Fest. For them, we’re really looking forward to coming back to Romania to show our complex, bitter and powerful death metal.
