Well dust off your thinking caps

Silent films are full of sound

Inaudibly free

2. Middle Man

After 5 shows of Jack in 7 days I manged to see a few errors in my tabs, one of them was in
one of the main chords for this song.. look at the chords in the intro and verse for the
difference... the Em, is not and Em until the chorus kind of bit, it is actually an Em9th or
Em7th or something.. as shown in the chord chart below... enjoy..

|.--11)------4)-.|
|---11)------4)--|

on the last repetition of this verse riff use FILL 2 from below after the
F# bass note to move back to verse riff 1...

some examples of fills that can replace the G# chord
FILL 1 FILL 2 FILL 3

so just f**k around with those, and any others are just variations on that anyhow...

then the fun part... the CHORUS...

----0~--0-0-----0~---0---0---0----2---2-2-----2---2---2---2-
----0~----------------------------2-------2h4---2-----------
----1~------4h6----4---2---1------3-----------------4---3---
----2~----------------------------4-------------------------
----2~----------------------------4-------------------------
--0-0~--------------------------2-2-------------------------

A much easier version of the chorus can be played, like Jack does it when he plays live..
----0)----------0)----2)-----------2)--
----0)----------0)----2)-----------2)--
----1)----------1)----3)-----------3)--
---------------------------------------
---------------------------------------
--0----0-0--0-0-----2-----2-2--2-2-----

then just descending major bar chords with the root on the 6th string
(ie the E shape)

CHORD: B / G# / F# / E x3
FRET: 7 4 2 0
then
CHORD: B / G# / G ~~~
FRET: 7 4 3 and hold

in case you don't know the terms above the shape for the B (7th fret) is

e|-7-|
b|-7-| So just start with that, then move it down to the 4th fret etc.
g|-8-|
d|-9-|
a|-9-|
E|-7-|

A Bm
Why don't the newscasters cry when they read about people who die
A Bm
At least they could be decent enough to put just a tear in their eyes

these will be called VERSE part 1 and VERSE part 2
   from now onwards)

(repeat INTRO [x2])

(guitar silent)
He's got delusions between his ears
Man it takes up too much space
And all that tension between his gears man
He'll never ever leave this place

(VERSE part 1 pattern begins again play it [x2])

He's got stones instead of bones
And everybody knows
Ah, man that can make you real real slow
And if heaven was below
He'd know just where to go
Dive in the ocean
And he'd sink like a stone
And he'd say

(VERSE part 2 now [x2])

It's time to swim ashore
If I drift long enough
I'll be home

(back to VERSE part 1 [x2])

Hold on if you can
You're gonna sink faster
Than you can imagine so
Hold on if you can
You're gonna sink faster
Than you can imagine so

(VERSE part 2 again [x2])

It's just time to swim ashore
If I drift long enough
I'll be home

Riff #1
Riff #2

Riff #3 (x7)
  Hermit crabs and cowry shells
Crush beneath his feet as he comes towards you
  He's waving at you

Lift him up to see what you can see
  He begins his focusing
  He's aiming at you

And now he has cutaways from memories
  And close-ups of anything that
He has seen or even dreamed
  And now he's finished focusing

  He's imagining lightning
  Striking sea sickness
Riff #4 Away from here

Riff # 1 Look who's laughing now that you've wasted
Riff # 5 How many years and you've barely even tasted
Riff #1 Anything remotely close to
  Everything you've boasted about
Riff #6 Look who's crying now

Driftwood floats, after years of erosion
Incoming tide touches roots to expose them,
  Quicksand steals my shoe,
  Clouds bring the f-stop blues
Riff # 7

Riff #1 Look who's laughing now that you've wasted
Riff #5 How many years and you've barely even tasted
Riff #1 Anything remotely close to
Riff #5 Everything you've boasted about
Riff #1 Look Who's crying now
Riff #5
Riff #1

13. Its all understood

okay, so the main riff goes
e-------------------------
B-------------------------
G---0-----------------4---
D--0-0----4-----4----4-4--
A--------0-0---4-4--2-----
D-5-----0-----4-----------

after a while the piano does some chords which you can do by...

e-3~----2~----------------
B-3~----3~----------------
G-0~----2~------------4---
D-0~----4~------4----4-4--
A-0~----0~-----4-4--2-----
D-X-----0~----4-----------

OR, you could play in normal tuning with the following four chords
G 3 2 0 0 3 3
D X 0 0 2 3 2
F# 2 4 4 3 2 2
Bm X 2 4 4 3 2

and just bash those out repeatedly...

amazing artist/album Note-these are all other peoples works
i simply compiled them for urs and my convinience
