Dont Know Why (ver3) Tab - McFly

I know this isnt how Danny plays it, as on the tour DVD, hes playing it with the capo
the 6th fret. However, this is how Ive been playing it since Wonderland came out, and
sounds fine. Plus, if you play the correct version wrong, it sounds like a Hawaiian ukulele!!

To save space, Ive put some of the little riffs above the lyrics where they happen, in
line form, for example
D --- 5 --- 2 --- 0 ---
That basically means play on the D string, not play a D chord.

Questions, comments, mistakes or McFlys used socks (ewww...) are all kindly received at

If you are a 13-year old teenie bopper PRETENDING TO BE McFLY though, then dont waste
time in adding me Ive already dealt with one of you before, and youre not funny or
enough to be McFly.

One by one, drinks are gone, do I have to stay?
E D* A
Hate the sound of one more pound as it rolls away.

BRIDGE 1.
F#m D A
Why did I need your proof when I knew the truth?

CHORUS.
                 E D A
And I dont know why I just let it slip by me all the time.
                       E
I just wish youd have tried

VERSE 2.
E D* A D --- 4 --- 5 --- 2 --- 0
I dont want to know your game, let alone her name
E D* A
No matter what you say to me, we are not the same

BRIDGE 2.
F#m D A
Why do you make me cry, try to justify?
F#m D A
Dont right your wrong with my mistakes, coz my heads held high!

CHORUS.
                 E D A
And I dont know why I just let it slip by me all the time, I just
                E
wish youd have tried.
                E D A
And I dont know why I just let it slip by me all the time, I just
                E

MIDDLE 8.
                                                        E
e ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|
B ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|
G --- 5 --- 4 --- 2 --- 0 ----------------------------- 1
D --------------------------- 4 --- 4h5 --- 4 --- 0 --- 2
A ----------------------------------------------------- 2-|
E ----------------------------------------------------- 0-|

(NOTE although this isnt on the Wonderland CD, when this song is played live, after
riff, the violinsts add in a rhythmic change from E to E7 and then back to E. I always
in the E7 change, as I think it sounds nicer, but its up to you if you want to add it
or not.)

Play the next riff with each fretted note corresponding with each word. (listen to the
if you dont get it.)

                                       E
Dreams we have as kids all fade away
G - 5 -- 4 - 2 - 0 -------------------|
D ------------------ 4 -- 5 4 -- 0 --|

   Now its not the same
G 5 4 -- 2 0 -- 4 ---

(NOTE on the live version, as a build up before the solo, all stringed instruments
bass, violins, etc) play this short riff

G -- 5 5 4 4 2 2 4 4 -- X5

 - before Tom jumps in with the solo. This again isnt on the Wonderland CD, but its
to play!)

SOLO

B 0h2h5 0h2 -------------------- 3 -----|
G -----------------------------------------|
D -----------------------------------------|
A -----------------------------------------|
E -----------------------------------------|

(NOTE Im not 100% sure on the last part of the solo. The above version is my own take
it, but because its all played so quickly, no one really notices when playing without
CD. Just so you know, that last part doesnt fit in with the CD.)

CHORUS.
                 E D A
And I dont know why I just let it slip by me all the time, I just
                E
wish youd have tried.
                 E D A
And I dont know why I just let it slip by me all the time. I just
                E
wish youd have tried.

Yeah!

E E/A E E/A E E/A E (let ring)

OUTRO
e ---------- 0 0 ---------------- 0 ------- 0 ---------|
B ----------------- 0 -----------------------------------|
G -------------------------------------------------------|
D ------- 2 -------------------- 2 ------- 2 ------------|
A ---- 2 -------------- 0h2 - 4 ------- 0 ----------- 2 -
E 0 ------------------------------------------- 3 0

e --------------------------------------------------------------|

A 0h2h3h5 --------------------------- 5 3h2 0 ------------|
E --------------------------------------------------- 3 2 - 0-|

(Again, as with the solo, this last part isnt 100% accurate. Just play it with the
really quickly, and it should do!! Its all a variation of a blues riff.)
