La fel ca in fiecare an, muzica rock pare oarecum introdusa fortat in ceremonia premiilor Grammy, altfel nu putem explica de ce momentele rock au fost programate in timpul ceremoniei netelevizate.
Printre castigatorii din acest an se numara Dave Grohl cu premiul pentru coloana sonora a documentarului 'Sound City: Real To Reel" dar si Black Sabbath care au plecat acasa cu trofeul pentru Best Metal Performance.
Grohl a castigat si trofeul pentru Best Rock Song, multumita colaborarii cu Paul McCartney, Krist Novoselic si Pat Smear.
