Basistul SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Shavo Odadjian, a distribuit un nou teaser despre viitorul sau album solo de debut.
Muzicianul armeano-american in varsta de 49 de ani, nascut Shavarsh Odadjian, lucreaza la LP-ul sau de debut impreuna cu chitaristul WINDS OF PLAGUE Michael Montoya (alias MorgothBeatz), cu un producator si compozitor care a colaborat anterior cu Travis Barker, JuiceWrld, Lil Xan, Jonathan Davis si cu multi alti artisti cunoscuti in domeniu.
Zilele trecute, Odadjian a postat un scurt videoclip de la studioul de inregistrari pe Instagram si a inclus urmatorul mesaj "Here's another snippet from my solo record. Work in progress. It's getting close… this one being co produced by my son Lil Hayk and @morgothbeatz Let's go!! #solorecord #systemofadown #fridayvibes #newmusic #bringkidstoworkday".
In aprilie trecut, Odadjian a vorbit la programul 96.7 KCAL-FM „Wired In The Empire” despre LP-ul sau solo, spunand: "I started this solo project with MorgothBeatz; he's my producer and he's also the guitar player for the group. And it's called SHAVO, but it's heavy. I'm back to my roots — no hip-hop. I think it's the heaviest I've ever been, and it's just flowing out of me. We have a track with — I'm gonna say it — Jonathan Davis [of KORN]," a declarat artistul.
"I'm working on that one right now. We have the choruses and the first verse, and I'm gonna do a little breakdown, and I think we've got one. That's 12 — number 12. So we're 12 songs into the solo record. I'm very excited about that." a spus artistul.
In ceea ce priveste procesul de scriere si inregistrare pentru albumul sau solo, Shavo a spus:"I'm recording bass and guitar. And then I have the drums being programmed at the moment, but I'm gonna have a live drummer on the record… And it's sounding crazy. I swear, I wouldn't even talk about it if I didn't believe in it so much. I go in, [MorgothBeatz] plays a beat, and I just write."
"And then we record everything I write, and then we put it together and it becomes something. And it's f*****g cool as hell. It's this cool artistic freedom I'm having in the studio." a incheiat acesta.
Referitor la o potentiala data de lansare a LP-ului, Shavo a declarat: "I'm thinking late this year, early next year. I'm gonna shop it and get a label for this one. I'm not doing it on my own. I think it needs a good push, because it's what you want to hear from me. It really is. If you know what I've done in the past, then you know the songs I had a part in writing. It's a little of [SYSTEM OF A DOWN's] 'Toxicity' all throughout this record — that kind of s**t. You wanna bang your head, you wanna run in the pit, you wanna go crazy, but you wanna smile while you're doing it and not be angry."
In ce priveste un potential turneu de promovare a noului sau material, Odadjian a declarat: "For sure. I'm gonna take this on the road… The SHAVO project is something that I wanna tour with for as long as I can and blow up, because I feel like it's something that can. And like I said, it's my DNA — it's what you'd expect from me."
SYSTEM OF A DOWN a facut turnee intermitent de cand si-a incheiat pauza muzicala in anul 2011, dar a reusit sa inregistreze doar doua melodii in ultimii 17 ani, „Protect The Land” si „Genocidal Humanoidz”. Lansate in noiembrie 2020, piesele au fost motivate de conflictul dintre Artsakh si Azerbaidjan, toate veniturile sustinand eforturile umanitare in patria ancestrala a SYSTEM OF A DOWN, Armenia. Alaturi de alte donatii de la fani de pe paginile lor de socializare, acestia au strans peste 600.000 de dolari.
In 2018, chitaristul SYSTEM OF A DOWN Daron Malakian l-a acuzat public pe cantaretul Serj Tankian ca nu vrea sa mai inregistreze nimic nou, Tankian raspunzand ca problemele creative si financiare cu Malakian au dus la un real impas. Intr-un mesaj pe Facebook, Tankian a scris ca Malakian a vrut sa controleze procesul creativ al formatiei, sa primeasca mai multi banii din vanzari si sa fie singurul membru al trupei care vorbeste cu presa.
