Interviu Metalhead Meeting Festival 2017: 5Rand

Metalhead: Hello and thank you for taking a little time to answer a few questions for our readers. Is this the first time you come to Romania?

5Rand: Hello to you and thank you for having us! Yes, it's the first time for us in Romania, we're really looking forward to be playing in a big city like Bucharest!

Metalhead: What kind of energy you expect from the Romanian public?

5Rand: A lot of energy for sure! In our previous experencies, we've found that eastern europeans are very passionate people, so we hope the crowd enjoys our performance and has fun and excitement with us.

Metalhead: How would you describe your music to somebody who has never heard your band before?

5Rand: We are an "extreme" metal band, uniting thrash metal with industrial elements but, nonetheless, with a strong attitude towards melody.

Metalhead: What is your favourite song to perform live?

5Rand: All of them! We have our brand new album out there and we're supporting it live, so it's hard to choose just one song... maybe "Paint of pain" because it's a good example of our overall repertoire.

Metalhead: What are the main elements that inspire your work?

5Rand: Music-wise it's the will to create music that we would enjoy as listeners in the first place. So we don't plan how a song should be or how it should sound, it has to flow naturally and we have to like it, no matter what's the current popularity trend... We could never play a music which we don't feel as our own. Naturally, this doesn't mean that our songwriting is random, on the contrary, we always try to refine and improve our ideas, so that what you hear is always the best we could do in that moment.

Concerning lyrics, we like to tell stories and describe borderline emotions... Generally Julia (Vocalist) writes them, and she's a psychologist, so you'll have "fun" reading how twisted and wicked our minds can be sometimes :P

Metalhead: What do you think is your biggest achievement as a band and what was the biggest problem that you had to overcome?

5Rand: At the moment we're constantly growing as a band, and that's just incredibly awesome for us. In April we've toured Europe with two colossal bands as Vader and Immolation, on June 24th we'll play in Bucharest along with Behemoth (and Sepultura the next day), on August 19th we'll play at "More Than Fest" in Slovakia with Amon Amarth, Overkill, Steve Harris, Dragonhammer and so many other legendary bands... and we're sure (and hope that) the best is yet to come!

Regarding problems, at the moment our drummer Francesco has a health issue so he can't play with us, we don't know for how long. But we've recruited a more than worthy drummer who will be introduced soon!

Metalhead: How do you feel about the internet in the music business and how important are live concerts for a band nowadays?

5Rand: Internet is a great way to make people know about you, but it has also made much harder to actually emerge, because the number of bands is awfully increased in the last 15 years, and obviously they can't be all good bands... On the other hand, it has made live shows more important, which means more fun for us ;)

Metalhead: Share with us your top five underrated bands/artists that people should start listening right now :)

5Rand: The Duskfall, Bruce Dickinson's and Adrian Smith's solo albums, Elvenking... can't think of a fifth right now, but there you have it: from death metal to power, you choose!

Metalhead: What are you preparing for your show at Metalhead Meeting Festival (new songs, anything special related to your performance)?

5Rand: Well, for a start we'll introduce our "new" temporary drummer. Than, we'll implement some samples during our show for the first time, to make the songs as immersive and complete as they are on the record.

Metalhead: Thank you for answering, any message you want to send those who will come to see you perform at Metalhead Meeting Festival?

5Rand: Thank you guys for reading till the end, we hope to meet you on June 24th! We'll play late at night, so stay there for us and keep rocking all night long!

Follow us on and the other social media (you'll find all the links on to stay up to date on where else we're going to play in the future; and give a listen to our album "Sacred / Scared", available on Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music etc. And remember to watch also our video clips on youtube ;)

Thanks again and keep banging your head!
