Interviu Metalhead Meeting Festival 2017: Dying Gorgeous Lies

Metalhead: Hello and thank you for taking a little time to answer a few questions for our readers. Is this the first time you come to Romania?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: Hi, thanks for having us. Yes, it's the first time for us in Romania.

Metalhead: What kind of energy you expect from the Romanian public?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: What we heard from other bands, the crowd in Romania are crazy motherfuckers who worship some good metal. We are really looking forward to kicking asses in Bucharest.

Metalhead: How would you describe your music to somebody who has never heard your band before?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: Our music is a fast and loud mixture of Thrash and Power Metal. The audience in Bucharest can be sure to expect some hot headbanging parts and circle-pits.

Metalhead: What is your favourite song to perform live?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: Easy to answer: “and as the bombs fell”. It’s a brand new, yet unreleased powerful and g*****n a*s-kicking song and we promise, you guys gonna love it.

Metalhead: What are the main elements that inspire your work?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: Relating to the lyrics, the main inspiration is just watching the daily news. Topics like the civil war in Syria, suppression, exploitation of our surroundings, poverty, the so-called “first world problems”, all of these and many many more find some place in our lyrics.

Metalhead: What do you think is your biggest achievement as a band and what was the biggest problem that you had to overcome as a band?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: The biggest achievement that DGL reached so far is the massive North American Tour together with Testament, Sepultura and Prong, that we just finished 4 weeks ago. Amazing shows in awesome venues of the biggest cities, great memories, impressive audience…

The biggest problem is the same as many newcomer bands are struggling with: you have to get to know the right people and get in touch with contacts that will help you to grow.

Metalhead: How do you feel about the internet in the music business and how important are live concerts for a band nowadays?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: When it comes to promotion, the internet and the social networks make a lot of things, like spreading your music, releasing music videos etc. easier and cheaper. The disadvantage is that many people won’t buy your cd, because they prefer streaming or mp3-downloads.

Live concerts have always been important and will always be. This is mainly because you create a kind of connection between band and audience.

Basically a band can mostly win people with the combination of good music and kick-a*s live performance. Also live concerts and especially festivals are great to get in touch with other bands and tour managers, promoters etc.

Metalhead: Share with us your top five underrated bands that people should start listerning right now. :)

Dying Gorgeous Lies: Of course first of all us lol! Also check out Infernal Tenebra or Nox Vorago, who are both also signed with Alpha Omega Management. What we are personally listening to in our tour bus is for example Gasmac Gilmore or Hammer King.

Metalhead: What are you preparing for your show at Metalhead Meeting Festival (new songs, anything special related to your performance)?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: At Metalhead Meeting we’re planning to play some brand new, up to now unreleased songs, that we just finished to write before the US tour kicked off and of course we’re gonna play some highlights of the current record “First World Breakdown”.

Metalhead: Thank you for answering, any message you want to send those who will come to see you perform at Metalhead Meeting Festival?

Dying Gorgeous Lies: e sure we’re gonna kick some asses on Sunday evening :) Prepare yourself for some neck-breaking action going on.
