Luna trecuta au inceput sa circule zvonuri ca Marty Friedman s-ar alatura trupei Megadeth pe scena pentru prima data in ultimii 23 de ani, pe 27 februarie, la locatia Nippon Budokan din Tokyo.
Acum Megadeth a numit emisiunea They Only Come Out At Night si o va transmite in direct in intregime. Nici Megadeth, nici Friedman nu au confirmat reuniunea, dar ce alt motiv exista pentru care trupa sa transmita in flux o emisiune atat de zvonita? Asa ca, daca esti liber in acea seara, poate fii conectat si urmareste istoria metalului. Daca zvonurile sunt adevarate, desigur.
Zvonurile au inceput cand Friedman a fost intrebat intr-un interviu pentru Next Guitar Hero despre potentiala sa aparitie. Friedman a spus pur si simplu „Nu pot da detalii. Dar vom canta impreuna […] Cred ca va fi o noapte magica”.riedman s-a alaturat lui Megadeth in 1990 si a cantat cu trupa pana in 2000, cantand la fiecare inregistrare intre Rust In Peace si Risk.
Friedman s-a bucurat de atunci de o cariera solo muzicala si de actorie de mare succes in Japonia.Solistul Megadeth, Dave Mustaine, a explicat intr-un interviu din 2022 ca punctul de rupere al relatiei dintre Friedman si trupa a fost solo-ul „Breadline” de pe Risk.
"I've always believed we should give the guitar player an opportunity to do a solo that he feels is right for the song," a spus Mustaine.
"If someone plays something that doesn’t work for the part, then I may make some suggestions. If it's still not happening, I might say, 'Okay, this is what I want you to play here.' If a lead totally doesn’t work then I’m going to do the part myself. That’s what happened [on] 'Breadline'. And Marty Friedman quit over the solo in 'Breadline'." a continuat acesta.
"I said [to management], 'Well, you have three choices. Either you mute the solo completely, have Marty come back and redo it, or I do it.' And then I said, 'If I do it, you'd better tell him.' Well, I redid it and nobody told Marty. So we're in there listening to the finished album and the solo comes on. It's my solo, not Marty's… I looked at him as tears ran down his face and I knew right away that nobody had told him. I knew that was probably going to be the end of Marty Friedman."
