There is a individual string picking pattern for the D chord that is used throughout the
song and as far as i understand the rest of the chords are just strummed. I'm going to
the D pattern here and then when I align the chords with the lyrics I'm just going to 
D as shorthand for the pattern below. In other words, when you see D in the song, play this:

all the high e sting notes double the amount as the others. It looks hard for beginners
you pick it up really quick if you get into the rhythm of it.
