Interviu Metalhead Meeting 2016: Winter's Verge

Metalhead: What kind of energy you expect from the Romanian public?

We’ve never played in Romania before, but I have visited the beautiful country many times and saw a lot of people wearing metal t-shirts there, so it seems like a metal heavy place. One of the airport security guys was even a Dark Tranquillity fan! So one thing is for sure, it seems that Romanians really know their metal… we are expecting some amazing crowds!

Metalhead: How would you describe your sound to metalheads who never heard your band before?

Epic, powerful, melodic metal. I guess ‘epic power’ might cover it, but we have a lot of heavier riffs and more aggressive vocals mixed in there. Sometimes I’m not even sure what to classify it as, but there’s certainly a lot of melody and epic-ness in there.

Metalhead: What are you preparing for your show at Metalhead Meeting (new songs, anything special related to your performance)?

We will be presenting a couple of new songs from our upcoming EP! So stay tuned for that, we hope you’ll all enjoy them! We’ll also have merchandise available for all of you. As we have a somewhat short set it is difficult to plan anything more special, but we may come to Romania again in the near future!

Metalhead: What are the main elements that inspire your music?

All of our music takes place within a fantasy realm. All the songs are stories which take place in this realm, so it’s always easy to get ideas about different characters and events that happen in there. We use it as a mirror to the real world, as they suffer the same problems and trials that we do. The sound we have is a mix of all our influences as a band, but we usually come up with an idea for a theme or a story, then try to see how the music will fit to it. We then follow our musical inspirations to give us the ideas for the actual song. It makes it very interesting as we’re always telling a story.

Metalhead: What do you think is your biggest achievement as a band?

As a band, for sure the European tour we did with Stratovarius for the Polaris album. It was an amazing experience and they were awesome people to work with – they are very big influences for us and it was a very cool time to hang out with them and share the stage.

Metalhead: Can you name 5 awesome bands that Metalhead readers should know about?

For me, 5 bands that are amazing but perhaps not as well-known as they should be:

Rotting Christ from Greece. They’re very well known in black metal circles, but even if you’re not a black metal fan you should definitely give them a try. They’re playing on the day after us so make sure you see them, their live shows are spectacular and super intense!

Desert. Very epic, dark battle-metal related band from Israel. Super catchy songs!

Type O Negative. They were a huge influence on me when I was younger, and as I grow and develop as a musician I’m still discovering what an incredible band they were. They were very popular in the late 90’s/early 2000’s but maybe not so well-known amongst younger fans. If you like doom/gothic stuff, you will love this.

Moonsorrow. Insane epic/black/atmospheric folk metal from Finland. Simply awesome

Mystic Prophecy. German power metal at its finest. Amazingly energetic live band and amazing songs!

Metalhead: Thank you for answering, any message you want to send to metal fans who will come to see you at MHM?

It will be a huge honour for us to play in Romania for the first time, so come down and show us what you’ve got!
